Mr McCloskey’s election follows the resignation of Swede Hakan Bergkvist, who assumed the presidency in September 2011, but resigned last month for business reasons.
Mr McCloskey has been a member of the council the Building & Engineering Services Association (formerly the HVCA) since 1992, serving as president in 2006/07. He joined the GCI-UICP board last year.
He is also a director of facilities services specialist Argent FM and a former divisional managing director with national contractor Lorne Stewart.
