The contract is for the widening of US 27 and SR 50 from four lanes to six lanes, along with the replacement of the existing US 27 bridges over SR 50 and the reconstruction of the interchange. Atkins and its subconsultants, will provide roadway, drainage, structures, environmental, signals, lighting, survey, and geotechnical services on this project.
Group manager Steve McWilliams said: “We are very excited about this contract because it is Atkins’ second design-build win with Prince for FDOT District 5 in two years. We’re so appreciative of our client’s confidence in our design-build services.”
Atkins’ previous contract for Prince with FDOT District 5 was awarded in 2009 for a design-build project on US 27 just south of this new contract.
