Bouygues inks €160m in Singapore deals

30 Nov 11 Bouygues Construction subsidiary Dragages Singapore has signed two contracts worth a combined total of some €160m (£137m).

The company will construct a residential complex, Blossom Residences, consisting of three buildings of 16 to 18 floors. The contract, worth roughly €93m, was signed with property developer CDL. All three buildings are being constructed simultaneously and work will take until spring 2014. Some 500 people will be working on the site at peak periods.

Dragages Singapore has also signed a contract worth about €64m with the property developer SC Global for the construction of a high-rise apartment block in Singapore. The building, which is designed by  architect Carlos Zapata is in one of the most exclusive districts of Singapore. The tower will have 35 apartments on 36 levels. One of the difficulties of the project resides in the construction of four private 15m swimming pools cantilevered from the facade. The curtain wall incorporates a system of directional sun screens intended to regulate light and heat according to the position of the sun. Work is due to begin in the next few weeks, and handover is scheduled for March 2014. Some 250 people will be working there at peak periods.

Both projects have been designed to subscribe to the principle of sustainable construction and to achieve  Singapore’s Green Mark certification.
