Breedon Aggregates to improve key route between Aberdeen and Inverness

12 Aug 11 Breedon Aggregates has been awarded a £1.1 million contract by Transport Scotland for carriageway improvements to a section of the A96 Trunk Road at Allanfearn, just east of Inverness.

The A96 Trunk Road is a key strategic route directly linking Aberdeen and Inverness.

The scheme extends for a length of 1.7 kilometres and involves the removal and replacement of the existing road surface with a Breedon Fibre surface course.  Works also include the replacement of existing kerbs with a new combined kerb/drain system, along with other drainage improvements.

Due to the proximity to Inverness and the high volume of traffic, all works are being carried out at night for a period of 28 days from Monday 29 August.  A road closure is in force from 7pm to 7am, with a diversion taking all vehicles through Smithton to rejoin the A96 at Smithton Roundabout.

The programme is being overseen by BEAR Scotland on behalf of Transport Scotland.

Breendon Aggregates are on The Construction Index.
