The Visions of China park would have rollercoasters and other thrill rides set within a landscape inspired by Beijing’s Forbidden City. If it comes to fruition, there will be oriental lakes and gardens, a China Town retail street, temple and cultural centre, theatre, children’s fantasy land, restaurants, oriental spa and a huge pagoda.
The Pithouse West site next to Rother Valley Country Park already has outline planning permission for leisure use.
The project is backed by Chinese investors and fronted by former Centre Parcs managing director Peter Moore.
A £5.7m regional growth fund bid for Visions of China is being backed by the Sheffield City Region's local enterprise partnership.
