Concession signed for £788m Mexican highway

The contract for the Pacífico-Sur package was signed between the transport and communications ministry (SCT) and Promotora del Desarrollo de América Latina. It includes two bypasses totalling 131km and operation of the existing highway from Guadalajara and Tepic.

Ideal submitted the sole firm proposal for the scheme as the other four prospective tenderers that had expressed interest - ICA, Aldesem, OHL and Coconal - presented only letters of apology.

The concession will have an investment cost of 16bn pesos, said Ideal.
