Costain increases Middle East focus

21 Jun 12 Costain has appointed a regional development director with responsibility for development of consultancy work as well as operations and maintenance services, initially in the Middle East.

Tim Bowen, who was formerly highways director, joined Costain from Atkins in 2005.

Costain has a well-established operation in Abu Dhabi,  focussed on the oil and gas market. He will be expanding Costain’s offering in line with a strategy for the group to provide broad services encompassing design, construction and operations and maintenance. His role will also include developing new opportunities in the rail, water and highways sectors with customers where the company can leverage its consultancy, project management and operations and maintenance work.

Costain Group chief executive Andrew Wyllie said: “Tim Bowen will now take responsibility for implementing strategy in the Middle East and ensuring our customers there receive the same broad scope of service which we offer in the UK markets.”

Simon Ellison succeeds Bowen as Highways Director. Ellison was project director on the recent M53 Bidston Moss viaduct strengthening contract for the Highways Agency. He won Costain’s manager of the year award in 2011.
