Cuddy appoints construction director to help spearhead business growth

15 Nov 11 Multi-disciplined contractor Cuddy Group has appointed a construction director who will be responsible for driving growth within the company’s civil engineering and housing division.

Gavin Lockyer, who has been with Cuddy for the past three years, will move into the newly-created role this month. He will work closely with – and report directly to – Cuddy’s experienced board director Darren Evans as the civils division continues to expand.

Speaking of the appointment, Cuddy Group managing director Mike Cuddy said: “Despite the difficult economic climate of recent years, Cuddy’s construction team has continued to excel. In three years the number of employees has doubled, turnover has trebled and the division has increasingly secured larger and more complex civil engineering schemes. It is therefore important that the department evolves in alignment with this, so that we have the right personnel development, quality control, health and safety and innovation processes and procedures in place.”

Having begun his career with Cuddy as site manager – before being promoted to project manager then contracts manager last year – Gavin has overseen some of Cuddy’s largest construction projects to date.

Mike continues: “Whilst Cuddy’s demolition expertise is renowned on a national and even international scale, our civils division has traditionally concentrated on projects within Wales. Yet we have recently been appointed to pave the way for new developments in Bristol and Weston-Super-Mare, and our strategy will be to carefully build upon this nationwide expansion success over the next 18 months.

“Our forward order book is incredibly healthy, and I know that Gavin’s fresh, enthusiastic and professional approach will play a crucial part in the sustained growth of our civil engineering division in the future.”

Gavin’s promotion success comes in the same month he has achieved chartered member status with The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
