Cutting-edge research facility on track at University of Warwick

10 Oct 11 A state-of-the-art medical research facility being built by Rugby-based construction firm Stepnell at Warwick Medical School has reached roof level and is on course for completion in December 2011.

The new Centre for Mechanochemical Cell Biology at Warwick Medical School was funded by the University of Warwick, The Wolfson Foundation and the Science City Research Alliance's Translational Medicine Project. The three-storey laboratory facility is being built to BREEAM ‘Excellent’ standard for environmental performance and will have an ‘A’ rated Energy Efficiency Certificate, incorporating sustainable technology including photovoltaic roof panels.

The £4.3 million building, funded by the University of Warwick, Advantage West Midlands for Birmingham Science City and the Wolfson Foundation, adjoins the Clinical Trials Unit building on the university’s Gibbet Hill Road campus.
