The team will plan, design and procure the 1,000-pupil second level college at Kingswood. The design is to be adopted as a new standard design for a number of other second level schools to be provided by the department over the next decade.
The appointment comes following an international architectural design competition, which attracted 154 applications from a number of countries. Planning for the new school is due to start later this year.
The design arranges clusters of teaching spaces around a central ‘public square’ allowing the circulation to become a series of social or teaching breakout spaces.
