Dumfries housing association sticks with Lovell for £25m deal

7 Nov 12 Scotland’s second largest housing association has chosen Lovell as its preferred bidder for a five-year repairs contract worth £25m.

The contract with Dumfries & Galloway Housing Partnership (DGHP) is expected to be formally awarded in December.

The deal will start in April 2013 and covers responsive repairs for more than 10,200 households as well as refurbishing void properties. The five-year contract has an option of a further two-year extension.

Lovell has provided DGHP’s repairs service since autumn 2010 when it took over at short notice after Connaught, the previous contractor, went into administration. Since then, some 90 employees have transferred to Lovell.

“Providing a high-quality repairs service which puts tenants’ needs first has been our priority since taking over the contract and it’s very rewarding to see the success of our approach recognised by our selection as preferred bidder to deliver the repairs service on a long-term basis,” said Simon Medler, managing director of the Lovell repairs and maintenance business. “We have worked very closely with DGHP and tenants to identify how the service could be improved and have then implemented the changes needed. That process is ongoing and we will build on our achievements through further improvements, ensuring that tenants continue to receive a truly excellent repairs service.”
