The mixed-tenure site, in the north of the city, is being developed by Places for People and neighbours a previous development by Castle Rock Edinvar, the registered social landlord within the Places for People Group
Lovell was awarded the project after bidding competitively as one of Places for People’s framework contractors. Construction work is starting on site this week, with the development set to be completed in October 2013.
The new housing is a mix of houses and flats and a mix of tenure types. All are designed to be energy efficient, with high levels of insulation to the external wall fabric and a heat recovery ventilation system. This ventilation system exchanges air extracted from the kitchen and bathrooms for fresh air, with heat being recovered in the process.
Lovell is also working for Places for People at Craigs Road, Edinburgh, building a £3.85m development of 42 apartments.
