Ennis fails

3 Jul 12 Manchester-based contractor Ennis Group is the latest construction company to fall into administration.

Sister companies Jim Ennis Construction Ltd and Ennis Developments Ltd are also in administration but Ennis Construction Ltd , formed in March this year, is understood to be still trading.

Administrators from The P&A Partnership were appointed on 22 June and had soon made 45 employees redundant.

Last filed accounts, for the year to 30 April 2011, show a pre-tax loss of £313,000 on revenue of £21.5m . Employe numbers had fallen in recent yeasr from arounf 200 to below 180.dd....... Employee numbers had fallen a little in recent years from around 200 to beow 180.

The company was established in 1964 by the current chairman Jim Ennis. Its client list included most of the major construction contractors, including Balfour Beatty, Laing O’Rourke, Carillion, Sir Robert McAlpine and Morgan Sindall. Projects included the City of Manchester Stadium and extensions to Old Trafford football stadium.

Ennis owns a significant plant fleet, including wheeled and tracked excavators ranging from 3t to 40t, crawler cranes, dozers, dump trucks, low loaders and tipper wagons.
