Ferrovial to build Polish conference centre

28 Sep 11 A consortium comprising Ferrovial Agroman and its subsidiary Budimex has signed a contract worth €65m (£56.5m) with the city of Krakow, Poland, to build a conference centre.

The 37,000m2 facility is due to open in August 2014. The project includes a 2,000-seat auditorium for conferences and concerts. There will also be two conference rooms, seating 600 and 300, and ancillary facilities as well as a two-storey parking complex. 

In the first half of 2011, Budimex obtained €549m in construction revenue, a 48% increase with respect to last year in like-for-like terms. Its order book amounted to 1.990bn euro. In the same period, Ferrovial Agroman obtained revenues of €1.985bn and international orders amounted to €6.665bn, 67% of the division's total. 

Budimex is currently in the process of acquiring PNI, a civil engineering company specialising in  railway infrastructure design, construction and maintenance.
