First contract signed for new Saudi city

15 Aug 11 The Saudi Industrial Property Authority (Modon) has signed a SR 250m (£41m) contract that marks the start of development of a third industrial city near Dammam.

The 4,800ha Dammam 3 development is located south of Dammam, 25km away from the area’s second industrial city. Director General of Modon Dr Tawfig Alrabiah said that the contract is the first of a series for the development of the industrial city. The two year development project includes roads, footpaths, lighting, electricity and drainage. During the development phase, investors can apply for land through Modon. Land will be allocated within eight months.

The contract for a 380kW electricity transfer station project will be awarded within a month.

There have already been about 300 requests for obtaining industrial land in Dammam 3. Areas have been allocated for residential, commercial and logistical projects.  The city will include areas for industries including petroleum, metals, plastic, food , vehicles, building materials and other projects.
