GAP shows its innovative side

23 Sep 11 Every year, GAP hosts a number of Innovation Days around the country, where its suppliers are invited to come along and showcase their latest and most innovative products, and this year is no different.

The UK’s largest independent plant & tool hirer has held two Innovation Days in the last four months; one in Warrington on Thursday 19th May 2011 and the most recent one in Croydon on Thursday 15th September 2011. The main purpose of the events is for GAP to invite its customers along to a depot so that they can get firsthand information on and demonstrations of different equipment, plant and tools that the company currently holds in its fleet and those that it may potentially invest in if there is interest shown.

Between the two days, approximately 200 customers attended, including Balfour Beatty, National Grid, Morrison Utility Services, Enterprise and BAM Nuttall, to name a few, and both events proved to be a great success. Moreover, as always, a great number of GAP’s suppliers, including Pike Signals, Hilti, Marwood, Scot JCB and Reactec, showed their support by giving their time and making the effort to exhibit at the events.

These Innovation Days also allow GAP to promote its enhanced services, such as GAP one, which offers its Major Accounts a range of tailor made managed services ranging from fully outsourcing all hire requirements to dealing with the associated administration and credit control, and GAP’s new SHE, Risk & Compliance team were on hand to answer any customer queries.

Joint Managing Director, Douglas Anderson, commented, “We have always prided ourselves on the high level of customer service that we are committed to providing and we are keen to ensure that we listen to and understand our customers’ needs and these Innovation Days really allow us to do so. We feel it is a fantastic opportunity for customers to see the latest plant and tools in the market and for them to give us feedback on what they would like to see added to our fleet, and this is very much taken on board”.

With the winter fast approaching, GAP’s next Innovation Day is scheduled for next Spring when the weather conditions should be more favourable, as the events take place outdoors in the depot yards and GAP hopes that it continues to have the same success with the events, which seem to get bigger and better every year.
