Planning for the three-storey, 78-bedroom development was obtained by Campmoss Properties’ in-house team after winning a design competition and many years of negotiation with Guildford Borough Council.
Barchester Healthcare development director Kenneth MacKenzie said: “Having worked with GB Building Solutions in the past we are sure that we will also get a home completed to the highest standards.”
GB Building Solutions has a long-standing relationship with Barchester, having constructed several facilities together - including a 70-bed care home in Bramley Green and a 54-bed care home together with a 10-bed acquired brain injury facility in Bottisham.
GB Building Solutions chairman and chief executive Martin Smout said: “Our track record and previous relationship with Barchester led to us negotiating this contract with Campmoss Property Company. They have the confidence that our team of skilled and dedicated staff will deliver the highest quality facility. This new care home will add to our vast experience in the healthcare sector with over £250m of care schemes undertaken in the last six years."
Work is expected to be completed in June 2012.
