Great Ormond Street Hospital plans £35m construction project

27 Jul 12 Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity is seeking architects/engineers to design its proposed Centre for Children’s Rare Disease Research.

The plan is to demolish an existing building at 20 Guilford Street in London, next to Great Ormond Street Hospital and replace it with a new ‘cutting edge state-of-the-art’ research centre with laboratories and offices. The site is already owned by the charity.

The budget construction cost for the 8,000-9,000 sq m gross building is in the range of £30m-£35m excluding professional fees, contingency, surveys, FF&E, client costs, VAT, inflation and any other costs.

Overall project cost is estimated at £66m.

Completion is targeted for April 2018.
