Groundforce opens in Germany

5 Oct 11 Groundworks equipment hire company Groundforce is expanded into mainland Europe by opening a facility in Germany.

Groundforce, part of Harrogate-based Vp, is opening in Lehrte, near Hannover, alongside sister company TPA Portable Roadways, which is one of Europe’s largest suppliers of temporary access solutions.

The new depot will be fully operational from 1 July 2012 and will be headed up by Groundforce technical sales manager Jorge Heidmeier. It will offer a range of excavation support equipment and associated products.

Through its subsidiaries Shorco, Easifrom, Piletec, U Mole and Shorflo, Groundforce rents out and sells shoring, formwork and piling equipment, pipe stoppers and pumps.

In response to demand from contractors on mainland Europe, Groundforce has increased its client list, working on major contracts in Germany, Denmark and Sweden. These contractors have seen benefits using modular hydraulic shoring systems over more traditional methods.

Groundforce says that it was the first company to supply modular hydraulic shoring equipment for use in Germany, working with joint venture Tagu/F+Z, supplying its Maxi and Mega hydraulic bracing units to support a 435m long trench excavation at Liebherr’s new offshore crane factory in Rostock.
