Helsinki awards €70m campus expansion contract

27 Oct 16 YIT Corporation has won a project management contract for a new campus being built by the city of Helsinki for Metropolia University of Applied Sciences.

The contract signed with Kiinteistö Oy Myllypuron Kampus is for construction of Myllypuro campus in the Finnish capital. The contract value to YIT is over €70m (£60.6m).

Construction will start shortly and will be completed in two phases in July 2018 and August 2019. the The campus, which has a total area of approximately 56,000m2, offers space for approximately 6,000 students and 500 employees. It will be built in the core of Myllypuro, partly on top of the metro line.

The campus consists of four connected buildings, one of which will be for construction and real estate department. In addition, the campus offers sports, therapy and laboratory spaces for educational needs.
