Customers will have to pay for the service to get their broken-down Hewden machines back up and running.

A statement from Hewden said that as its customers were now working evenings and weekends more often, it will now offer a “competitively priced” 24-hour breakdown service, 365 days of the year, to customers throughout Great Britain.

A fleet of 200 vans has been purchased for the customer support operation.

Area operations manager Stuart Wild said: “The traditional ‘Monday to Friday’ working hours are becoming a thing of the past. Customers are now working longer and in some cases, particularly in the events industry, they’re working throughout the weekend too.

“In the event of a breakdown, the new 24-hour service gives customers the peace of mind that their plant and equipment will be returned to safe operation promptly at a very competitive price, anywhere in Great Britain.”
