First stage is construction of the new Ilford Jewish Primary School which is relocating to the 6.5 hectare high school campus from Carlton Drive in Barkingside. The local authority is planning to set up another school in the former premises to meet growing national and local educational demands.

The primary school is due to be completed in July 2013 and the whole development will be completed in summer next year for the start of the 2013/14 academic year.

The wider campus plans, designed by RHWL Architects, propose a phased redevelopment around the existing high school building. Secondary students will get a new arts, drama and music department, new sixth form facilities and reorganised landscaping and parking.

RHWL principal director Grant Wood said: “As well as improving facilities for the high school students, the King Solomon campus masterplan brings Ilford Primary School onto the same site, providing new modern educational facilities, more efficient use of space, a sustainable environment and the opportunity to offer places from 2 to 18 years old through the same campus.”

HG Construction, based in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, was part of the Hunting Gate Group until a management buyout in 2000.
