Income and margins down at Skanska

11 May 12 Skanska’s figures for the first quarter show operating income of SEK148m (£13.3m), compared with SEK451m for the same period last year.

The decreased mainly because of a fall in performance in residential development where the operating loss was SEK22m, down from income of SEK196m in January-March 2011.

The operating margin in construction amounted to 1.2%, compared with 1.4% in the same period of 2011.

But orders were up to SEK25.1bn from SEK21.6 in the same period last year and order bookings in the first quarter totalled SEK25.1, showing an increase on the SEK21.6bn in 2011.

Order bookings were 7% higher than revenue during the 12 months ending 31 March and the order backlog increased by 10% and amounted to SEK152.9bn from SEK139.4bn a year before.
