International Timber expands range with Accoya Redwood Component

27 Sep 11 International Timber, has expanded its joinery range with the addition of Accoya Redwood Component.

Offering a high performance, cost effective solution, the modified joinery can be expected to last twice as long as engineered softwood alternatives.

Accoya Redwood Component is produced from sustainably sourced, fast growing wood using a non-toxic, biocide free modification process which penetrates from the surface to the core.  This gives a dimensionally stable and aesthetically pleasing solid wood to rival the performance characteristics of even the most durable tropical hardwoods.

With a Class 1 durability rating and a minimum 60 year service life, intervals between coating are up to twice as long in comparison to requirements for traditional engineered softwoods and the dimensional stability of Accoya Redwood Component reduces the risk of windows or doors jamming in humid conditions.  Products also have industry leading environmental credentials, with both FSC and PEFC certified sources available, and are 100 per cent recyclable.

Naturally insulating, Accoya Redwood Component offers enhanced thermal conductivity in comparison to softwoods and hardwoods.  It has successfully passed the stringent BRL2902 delamination test and is resistant to UV rays, rot and insects, providing a long-lasting and competitively priced solution for joinery professionals.

Tony Miles, managing director of International Timber, comments: “We are committed to offering an unrivalled breadth and depth of timber products.  Accoya Redwood Component delivers consistent quality and is easily machined, providing our customers with a durable and convenient solution to meet all their joinery needs.”
