Interserve JV scoops Brize Norton job

15 Jul 11 Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) has awarded a £21.6m contract to a joint venture of Interserve Defence and SSE Contracting.

The JV, called PriDE, will design and build a new air despatch facility for 47 Air Despatch, Royal Logistics Corps at RAF Brize Norton.

Work starts in August 2011 to provide 9,400 sq m of offices, equipment storage and operational capacity. The new facility is needed to improve the efficient delivery of supplies to overseas destinations and help 47 Air Despatch Royal Logistics Corps better support military operations.

DIO project manager Denis Williams said:  “DIO’s top priority is to support our armed forces in preparing for operations. Reaching the point of contract award on this project has involved close cooperation between all parties to achieve a scheme of technical viability within budget constraints and a challenging programme.”

Interserve divisional director Chris Hales said:  “We are looking forward to working with PriDE, DIO and the RAF in continuing to deliver strategically important facilities at Brize Norton. We recognise the importance of the programme Future Brize and will be doing all we can to support and facilitate these changes.”

SSE Contracting is part of the Scottish and Southern Energy Group.
