Mr McQuade, a chartered surveyor by background, joins Kier from Miller Construction, where he was managing director for the past five years.
Kier Group executive director Steve Bowcott said: “I am delighted to welcome Brian to Kier. He will be working closely with the established senior team to move the business forward and continue building on the success that Kier has had to date in Scotland and the north-east.”
Kier workload in the region includes the South Lanarkshire schools framework, projects under the Scape framework and a number of education, health and retail schemes in the northeast. It also recently took over the contracting side of Stewart Milne, boosting its presence in Scotland.
Mr McQuade said: “Although market conditions remain challenging I am confident that by focusing on our agreed strategy, sticking to our core values and using the expertise and strong brand we have at Kier, we will be well placed to continue to grow the business in Scotland and northeast England.”
