Lucas Fit Out wins Thames cable car contract

25 Nov 11 Lucas Fit Out has secured the contract to fit out the two stations either side of the River Thames for the Emirates Air Line, the UK’s first urban cable car system.

Lucas Fit Out’s work on the Transport for London project will be screeding the front and back of house areas in both stations and laying Granazzo floor tiles to the public circulation areas and platforms.

The team will supply and install sanitaryware, undertake specialist joinery in the stations, including the ticket offices, install a whole range of specialist metalwork and decorate all areas.

The fit out is due to start early in the New Year.

Lucas Fit out is part of the specialist fit out and finishing contractor S. Lucas Group.

Emirates Air Line is a Transport for London gondola link across the River Thames in London that is planned to be built by the 2012 London Olympics.

The scheme is a 1 km cable car line running from the Greenwich Peninsula over the river to the Royal Docks, linking two important Olympic sites.

The project is estimated to cost £60m.
