M25 traffic technology deal worth £75m

2 Oct 12 A £75m contract to supply and install technology on the M25 managed motorway project is being advertised by the Connect Plus consortium that manages the London orbital for the Highways Agency.

Connect Plus is a consortium of Balfour Beatty, Skanska, Atkins and Egis Road Operation UK. As part of a 30-year remit to manage and improve the M25, it is widening 38 miles, refurbishing tunnels and bridges, and installing hundreds of variable messaging signs and gantries.

A four-year civil engineering contract to install gantries and remove the toll booth plazas at the Dartford Crossing, as part of a move to automated tolling, forms Lot 1 of a contract notice in the EU Official Journal today. Lot 2 is for the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the technology, including cameras, sensors and variable message boards.
