KrishnaAvanti Primary Schoolwill be the first ethnically diverse independent school in the county. The project will deliver the customer’s vision of a school which integrates Hindu beliefs with an education strategy that puts learning at the forefront of the development.
The contract includes the restoration of Grade II listed building, Evington Hall. The works will include the preservation of all internal features including an impressive clear atrium light, original staircases and fireplaces, wooden panelling and shutters and embossed wallpaper. Externally, all features will be restored and the east elevation re-established, returning the building to its former glory.
This restoration process will be integrated with the construction of modern single-storey classrooms and worship space linked to the original building by an external timber walkway. Teaching spaces have been created both internally and externally with multi-functional areas, gardens, allotment space, a courtyard, woodland walkways and meditation space. The new building fits seamlessly into the extensive grounds and offers a learning experience that links children with the natural environment.
Work will start on site in November 2011 and complete in September 2012.
