McFadden adds to Volvo fleet

24 Oct 12 McFadden Building & Civil Engineering Kirkstall in Leeds is replacing a six-year-old EC140B with the latest EC140D, this time complete with dozer blade.

The purchase continues a long-standing relationship with Chippindale Plant - Volvo Construction Equipment’s utility dealer for Yorkshire - dating back to the purchase of a  Pel Job compact excavator in 1998. McFadden Building & Civil Engineering now operates a total of 14 Volvo machines including the EC140D that has just joined the fleet.

Managing director Paul McFadden said that he evaluated what was available on the market and made the decision thanks to the continued support the company receives from Chippindale Plant and the reliability of the Volvo product.

“Unlike some other makes the relationship between the digging equipment and the length of the frame for the blade means we can collect the last remnants of material in the bucket which helps to keep sites clean and tidy,” said co-director Nigel Story. This an important factor because the bulk of the work undertaken by McFadden Building & Civil Engineering is the de-commissioning of old petrol forecourts and the complete re-generation of new ones. Each site has an extremely confined area to work in so space is at a premium. The addition of the heavy duty dozer blade is an added benefit when it comes to positioning storage tanks since it provides additional stability to the machine when lifting.
