The acquisition is in line with Mears’ stated strategy of expanding beyond building work for local authorities and social housing landlords and to broaden the diversity of its domiciliary care business to people with higher acuity needs. The main business of Choices is the provision of a supported living service to adults with learning disabilities, autism and mental health needs, in their own homes, and so fits well, Mears said.
Mears paid £7.4m in cash, with a refundable deposit of up to £5m, depending on the successful novation of the acquired contracts.
