More schoolwork for Wynne

31 Aug 12 Denbighshire-based Wynne Construction has been picked by Gwynedd County Council to build the new £5.4m Ysgol Bro Dysynni primary school in Llanegryn.

Ysgol Bro Dysynni will include four classrooms with additional practical teaching areas for each room and an additional suite for the local Cylch Meithryn, as well as practical rooms for art and food science and a large library and IT room.

The school is to be constructed to BREEAM Excellent standards with sustainable features to include PVs, rainwater harvesting and a biomass boiler. The local community will also benefit from a new access to the school through widening of the road into Llanegryn.

Wynne Construction managing director Chris Wynne said: "As a North Wales contractor, we aim to deliver the project using local labour and to form relationships with local businesses so that up to 75 per cent of the suppliers are from the local area."

The contract award comes just a ferw weeks after Wynne won an £8.5m contract from Anglesey County Council to build the new Ysgol y Bont Special Education Needs School in Llangefni.
