Morrell reappointed as Government chief construction adviser

20 Oct 11 Paul Morrell has been re-appointed as the Government’s chief construction adviser by business minister Mark Prisk.

Mr Morrell, who was first appointed to the role in December 2009, for a two year period, will be reappointed for a further year so that he can oversee the reforms set out in the Government Construction (Procurement) Strategy and play a part in the establishment of the Green Construction Board, both of which are now moving into the delivery phase.

Mark Prisk said: “I’m very pleased that Paul has agreed to be re-appointed as the Government’s chief construction adviser. He has made significant progress championing a more coordinated approach to affordable, sustainable construction both within industry and Government.

“Over the next year he will see through the action plans which he has instigated - the Government Construction Strategy and the Green Construction Board. I very much look forward to continuing to work with him over the next year.”

Paul Morrell said: “I am really glad to have the opportunity of getting some of the plans that have been formulated over the last two years along the road to implementation. There is a lot to do and the work of efficiency and reform can never be finished, but the industry has been hugely supportive of the moves the Government is making and I think in another year we will have a programme that has momentum of its own.”
