NFB chairman's building firm goes bust

2 Jul 12 A Merseyside construction firm run by National Federation of Builders chairman Alison Perry has gone bust.

Triangle Builders, based in Bootle, collapsed with debts of up to £380,000, putting five people out of work.

Last month, managing director Perry was awarded an OBE in recognition of her contributions to the building trade at the NFB.

Creditors said they were angry that the 47-year-old had accepted the honour when she must have been known that the business was at risk.

Perry's term as chairman of the NFB – the first time the federation has appointed a woman to the role – ends this year. She said: “As chair, it gave me great pleasure to meet many of our members throughout 2011 and to be able to represent them at the highest levels of influence, including at Number 10 Downing Street.”
