Nottingham Forest legend kicks off multi-million pound superstore

11 Oct 11 Ex-Nottingham Forest and Manchester United centre striker Garry Birtles opened a new Speedy Superstore on Queens Drive Industrial Estate in Nottingham on 7th October.

The new Superstore – the first of its kind in the East Midlands - contains more than £2 million worth of equipment for hire and will employ 28 people.

Speedy, which is the UK’s largest equipment rental and support services company, will offer specialist kit and hire support from the depot for tools, lifting and survey equipment. The superstore will also host the pipework and engineering depot for the Midlands.

As Garry Birtles signed footballs for Speedy customers, key suppliers from the depot’s specialist sectors attended the launch in order to give demonstrations of the equipment available at the depot.

Speedy experts were also on hand to give live product demonstrations and deliver seminars on how the company’sPDA systems work and show how customers can use the ‘My Speedy’ section of the website, which allows customers to manage their account with Speedy online. There was also a business card raffle, in which one local customer won an Ipad2.

Nikki Harvey, Area Operations Manager, Central Midlands, said: “At our new superstore, customers can access the most innovative equipment on the market, and expert advice on how to run their businesses in safer, greener and more profitable ways”

“Giving local companies ‘one-stop shop’ access to all they need to run their business in the most effective way possible demonstrates Speedy’s commitment not only to Nottingham but to the East Midlands as a whole.“

The new superstore is located at Unit C1, Longwall Avenue, Queens Drive Industrial Estate, Nottingham, NG2 1NA.
