Parsons lands key role on 4,000ha UAE site

23 Nov 11 Parsons has been awarded the project management consultancy for infrastructure at the UAE’s AED7bn (£1.2bn) Shamkha South development.

The contract awarded by Abu Dhabi General Services PJSC (Musanada) covers some 3,980ha of previously undeveloped land, allocated for the construction of 12,460 villas, together with a central business district and various community facilities. The site is approximately 12km west of Abu Dhabi International Airport.

Parsons will be responsible for the project management consultancy for the development’s infrastructure, including roads, street lighting, road marking, signage, traffic signals, water distribution networks, reservoirs, pumping stations and wastewater collection networks. The work will also involve significant quantities of micro-tunnelling as well as power distribution networks, substations and storm drainage networks. Musanada is managing the delivery of the development to provide plots equipped with utilities ready for the future local housing development.
