Propaganda freeze relaxed for Green Deal

3 Dec 12 The government is relaxing its marketing freeze to spend an initial £2.9m promoting the Green Deal amid fears that the policy has failed to capture the public imagination.

The scheme relies on property owners signing up for energy-saving home improvement schemes that will be paid off through their energy bills. No one has yet done so.

Energy minister Greg Barker said that the advertising would “build further understanding of the Green Deal, helping to create a real buzz”.

He added: “It’s clear that the Green Deal is building momentum and will be a brilliant offer for people.”
