Ringway invests £6m in North Yorks fleet

2 Oct 12 Vinci road maintenance subsidiary Ringway has invested £6m in a fleet of 110 new vehicles to carry out its £400m, 10-year contract to look after North Yorkshire County Council’s highways network.

The new vehicles bring the total number in the Ringway fleet up to 180, which will be deployed to carry out a variety of highways and street improvement services in North Yorkshire.

The newest additions to the fleet include 38 dedicated winter maintenance gritters, replacing 40% of the previous fleet, five gully emptiers, seven street lighting hoists and 60 tippers ranging from 3.5t to 26t.

Ringway’s contract began in April 2012.

Regional director Tom West said: “We are committed to delivering a high quality and efficient customer-focused service. This new £6m investment in our fleet greatly improves our ability to deliver the maintenance contract for the North Yorkshire area and demonstrates our commitment to being part of making highways North Yorkshire the best service provider in the country.”

The 10 year contract, previously held by Balfour Beatty, covers all aspects of highway maintenance and improvements including gully emptying, grass cutting, bridge repair and maintenance and street lighting maintenance.

Ringway will also operate vehicle repair workshops across the county which, in addition to its own fleet, Ringway will maintain more than 100 commercial vehicles from the county council as well as those of a number of additional customers, including North Yorkshire Police.
