Solar Gard specialises in development, manufacturing and distribution of coated films used in markets including architectural glazing for residential and commercial buildings. Applications include solar control films that contribute to reduce energy consumption, tinted films for privacy, and security films to protect against window breakage during break-ins blasts and storms. The products are sold through internal distribution and installation centres and a network of independent dealers.
Solar Gard has manufacturing facilities in San Diego in the USA in Zulte in Belgium and is currently developing operations in China. Sales in 2010 reached $150m (£92m).
The intended acquisition will be submitted for approval to the required anti-trust authorities.
