Second World Cup win for Hightex

29 Aug 12 Hightex Group and its Brazilian construction partner SEPA have been selected to engineer and install the membrane structure of the roof of the Beira-Rio Stadium in Porto Alegre, a 2014 FIFA World Cup venue.

Hightex Group designs, fabricates and installs large-area, cable-supported, lightweight membrane roofs and façades worldwide. It is listed on the Alternative Investment Market of the London Stock Exchange London and has its engineering base in Germany, .

The latest contract win is the second in Brazil by Hightex. It follows the award of the contract for Rio de Janeiro's Maracana Stadium, which will host the 2014 FIFA Final and the 2016 Olympics.

The new project has a contract value approaching €10m (£8m). The engineering work will start immediately and the construction is due to be completed during 2013.

The Beira-Rio stadium is the fifth largest in Brazil, and will accommodate approximately 50,000 spectators: it is also home to Brazil's Seria A football club Internacional Porto Alegre.

"We are delighted to have won this contract,” said chief executive officer Frank Molter. “Along with our work on the Maracana stadium, it is further acknowledgement of our significant expertise and strong offer for the growing Brazilian market, where there is excellent potential for a variety of membrane roof and façade structures. We look forward to building on this success and further leveraging Hightex's core technical skills, recognition of its high quality German engineering and significant track record of involvement with global signature construction projects.”
