Skanska divests half of Chilean toll road

9 Sep 11 Skanska has sold 50% of its stake in the Chile’s public-private partnership highway Autopistas de Antofagasta.

It received a total sales price corresponding to about SEK 275m (£26m), resulting in a gain of about SEK50m (£4.9m).

Skanska will remain owner of the remaining 50% of the shares in the project company. The project company will now be treated as an associated company, which is similar to all other projects in the Skanska PPP portfolio. 

The road runs through the Chilean mining district it is due to open to traffic by December 2012. The concession for design, construction, operation and maintenance was won by Skanska in 2010.

The buyer is Inversiones Infraestructura Dos, a Chilean company owned by two investment funds managed by Las Américas, an investment funds manager.
