Skanska lands $173m in new US projects

12 Oct 12 Skanska has signed a a US$117m (£73m) deal for building work at a US university and a US$56m (£35m) contract to upgrade infrastructure at Stamford Hospital.

The US$117m contract involves renovation and expansion of a higher education building for an unnamed client in the north east. Skanska will build the 20,000m2 in two separate phases. Phase One includes the construction of a 9,800m2 addition to the base of the current law school tower. Phase Two of the project will include a full restoration of the existing 15,500m2. Construction for Phase One of the project will commence in December 2012 and is scheduled for completion in May 2015. The second phase is scheduled to begin in June 2014 for completion in August 2015.

At Stamford, it will provide infrastructure upgrades, including building a new 3,100m2 central utility plant and additional surface parking, as well as site work including utilities. The project is expected to be completed in August 2016.
