Skanska runs worldwide safety week

23 Oct 12 Skanska is running what it claims is the world’s largest workplace safety event organized by a company.

Hundreds of thousands people are involved in this week's activities focused on workplace safety. Skanska’s 53,000 employees at more than 10,000 sites in 18 countries will be joined by subcontractors, suppliers and business partners.

Skanska Safety Week has been arranged annually for eight years. The theme for Safety Week 2012 is: “Our journey to zero accidents is only possible with you and me taking responsibility”.

Over the last 6 years the lost time accident rate for employees has been reduced by 50% worldwide.

There will be thousands of activities held during the safety week at sites and offices throughout Skanska. The activities include planning to avoid or manage risks, work at height, rescue techniques and fire training. There will also be activities focusing on health and training in first aid.
