Skanska scoops $386m NY subway contract

14 Sep 11 Skanska has signed a US$386m (£245m) a wide-ranging contract to provide and install finishes and systems for a subway extension in Manhattan, New York.

The project is a joint venture between Skanska and Railworks, with a 75% share awarded to Skanska. The client is the Metropolitan Transportation Authority of the State of New York.

The project includes various civil improvements, including utility connections, architectural finishes, structural work, escalators, tunnel ventilation, lighting and track work for the running tunnels, station cavern and four ventilation buildings along the alignment of the Number 7 Line extension from Times Square to West 25th Street and 11th Avenue.

Work on the project begins this month, and is expected to be completed in June 2014.
