SNC-Lavalin in Polish power plant win

10 Dec 12 SNC-Lavalin and General Electric International have been awarded a turnkey contract by PKN Orlen to build a combined cycle power plant in Wloclawek, Poland.

The overall project costs are estimated at just under PLN 1.4bn (£269m) and the value of SNC-Lavalin’s portion of the contract is put at CA$183.7m (£116m).

The plant will produce 463 MW of power through a gas turbine with a heat recovery steam generator and steam turbine. SNC-Lavalin will provide project management, engineering, procurement, construction, start up and commissioning services for the overall project as well as part of the equipment.

“SNC-Lavalin is extremely proud to work on this important contract for PKN Orlen,” said SNC-Lavalin Group executive vice-president, global power Patrick Lamarre. “We are honoured to provide our industry leading expertise to support PKN Orlen in its goal to supply clean and efficient energy.”

Construction is scheduled to start in March, 2013, and is expected to take 36 months.
