HSBC bought the water company from Cheung Kong Infrastructure (CKI) on 3 August. CKI was compelled to sell to make a firm offer to purchase the much larger Northumbrian Water.
HSBC’s ownership has proved brief, however. South Staffordshire now takes over all Cambridge Water's regulated and non-regulated activities.
As at 31 December 2010, Cambridge Water had audited gross assets of £61.6m. The company has supplied fresh water to the town for more than 150 years.
Alinda Capital Partners is the largest manager in the USA of pension assets for investment in infrastructure and the third largest in the world, with more than $7bn of funds under management.
