Speedy builds largest clean generator fleet

12 Aug 11 Hire company Speedy has invested £3.6m in a fleet of generators from French manufacturer SDMO Energy.

Speedy has bought more than 200 power generation products, to be distributed across its depot network.

Speedy says that this investment gives it the UK’s largest fleet of generators that comply with EU stage 3A emissions.

Speedy’s power generation experts visited the SDMO factory in France and worked with the production team to ensure the equipment met UK customer requirements.

The new generators, which range in size from 80-500kVA, are more fuel efficient, Speedy says, and have an external control panel to improve safety and accuracy.

The fuel tanks are fully bunded with leakage detection. They have also been fitted with forklift pockets and crane lifting pegs to make them easier to move.

Speedy supply chain director Andy Connor said: “Generators are essential in construction projects but with rising fuel costs and increasing environmental concerns they can be expensive to operate.

“Our customers need more fuel efficient units so we teamed up with SDMO to develop these state-of-the-art generators which are compliant with our sustainability strategy, One Plan. Through this action plan we are helping contractors reduce carbon emissions, increase efficiency and improve health safety by supplying them with new products, fuel management and sustainability consultancy.”
