St Modwen plans 142-acre Cannock mixed-use development

21 Nov 11 St. Modwen has submitted plans to develop a multi-million pound mixed-use development in Hednesford, Cannock.

The proposed 142 acre development, which lies to the north of Cannock Town Centre on land off Pye Green Road, is planned to include up to 700 homes, a new primary school and 75 acres of public open space, play areas and allotments.

At the heart of the development will be a local centre that will incorporate shops and community facilities.

The traditional-style houses will range from one to five bedrooms, with a general emphasis on three and four bedroomed family homes. There will also be affordable housing and large detached executive homes included in the development.

The one form entry primary school will provide 30 places per year group, to cater for children of primary school age generated from the new development.

Highway works will be undertaken to provide new junctions and improve existing junctions on Pye Green Road and Limepit Lane and a network of pedestrian crossing facilities and cycle paths will be created, to help minimise resident’s car use.

Subject to planning approval being granted early in the New Year, St. Modwen expects work to begin on site in spring 2013.

The developer says it will generate around 1,000 jobs in the construction of the new houses.
