Stepnell is starting work this month on facilities that include a 250-seater recital hall, a recording studio, 24 practice rooms, two classrooms and a library housing one of the largest collections of musical scores of any school in the UK.
The two-storey music school will be built next to the school’s Roxburgh Theatre, which is set to undergo a major programme of repair and renovation, creating a focus for performing arts for the private school.
The building is designed by Nick Cox Architects working in association with Nicholls Brown Webber. It will be finished in Bath stone and render. Completion is set for September 2013.
