Tendering opens for £560m traffic framework

17 Nov 11 The Highways Agency is inviting bids for packages worth up to £560m under a framework for temporary traffic management.

Up to 50 companies will be appointed for the four-year deal for the provision of temporary traffic management services.

The contractors will be required to contribute to the design of traffic management to support improvements in quality, price, safety and efficiency. Work includes the design, installation, maintenance and removal of static temporary traffic management measures on motorways and high speed dual carriageways, traffic management of mobile lane closures and temporary traffic management on rural and urban roads.

Ten separate lots each with an estimated value of up to £560m cover five regions. The Highways Agency anticipates inviting up to 100 suppliers to tender, with between six and 10 for each lot. Price and quality will have equal weightings in assessing the lots.  The deadline for receipt of applications is 21 December.
